About Us

HISTORY

In 1995 a small group of concerned citizens in Hall County, Georgia, organized activities for World AIDS Day. Desiring to mobilize the community in a more continuous way, the North Georgia AIDS Alliance (NGAA) filed and received its 501(c)3 status in 1998. Prior to opening an office in 2001, the NGAA continued to sponsor annual World AIDS Day activities as well as sponsoring AIDS awareness plays for local middle and high schools students, continuing education for area physicians, distribution of prevention literature in both English and Spanish to area schools.

The North Georgia AIDS Alliance is the only organization in the region 2 public health district whose sole purpose is to address issues related to HIV and AIDS. With over 200 people in the district currently living with AIDS and an increasing number diagnosed as HIV positive, the need for our services continues to grow.
